If you’re looking for one of the most flexible cashback cards available today, then look no further than the Tangerine Money-Back Mastercard.

Versatility. Creativity. Flexibility.

If you’ve never carried a rewards credit card in your wallet, there’s never been a better time to try the Tangerine Money Back Mastercard.

With no annual fee, and a choice of cash back categories that have no limit spending caps, this underdog bank swooped in from seemingly nowhere to zip past the competition and show the entire credit card industry what the true potential of rewards program could be.

Each category is swappable, and allows up to 3 merchant categories at a time from a total choice of 10 categories.

So here’s how the whole thing works.

You have 10 categories to choose from:

Once you receive your card and activate it you choose any 2 of these categories, and by signing up for a Tangerine Savings Account and automatically having your cash back rewards deposited into this account, you have the option of a 3rd merchant category.

Tangerine operates as a branchless bank, and by eliminating the traditional “brick and mortar” infrastructure, they allow those substantial savings – that would otherwise be spent on maintaining leases, employee payroll, security and surveillance and other physical and branch based components – to be passed on to their clients.

If you are interested in learning more about the company‘s history financials and initial launch then check out this article.

There is an app of course, which you can download that allows you to navigate and choose any 3 of these categories based on your spending habits. Or if you prefer you can navigate through these options by phone using automated voice prompts or with assistance from a live operator.

Within each of the 3 categories – or 2, if you do not have the Tangerine Savings Account – you earn 2% cashback on All purchases from merchants that qualify, with No limit to how much cash back you can earn, as there are No spending caps.

Yes you heard us right, no spending caps!

You can swap any of your categories, at anytime you like and by using the app it makes it extremely convenient and very user-friendly.  Once you swap out a merchant category for another, the affect will take place at the beginning of your next billing cycle so keep this in mind when strategizing your plan of attack.

For a limited time, Tangerine is offering double cash-back rewards if you apply for their Mastercard, are approved, and activate it  prior to January 31, 2020.  For all purchases in your merchant categories, you’ll receive this promotional reward for 3 months before it settles back into its advertised rate of 2%.

For all other purchases that are not within the categories, you’ll receive 1/2 of a percent. This is exactly why pairing the Tangerine Money Back Mastercard with at least one other credit card is the strategic choice to maximize your potential earnings.

For example,

[write one or two paragraphs plugging another reward card in a similar category such as the Scotiabank Momentum Infinite Visa or the Rogers Platinum MasterCard which earns 3% cashback on foreign currency’s and 2% back on Rogers products and services.
